Arturo's Maui Onion salsa is the original Maui Onion Salsa. This wonderful salsa was created by Arturo who arrived in Hawaii more than 40 years ago armed with a Velzy longboard and an "incurable longing" for his family's long tradition of mouthwatering Mexican food. Unable to find acceptable Mexican food, Arturo began creating his own flavorful Maui Onion Salsa in 1983. The secret to this extremely flavorful tomato based salsa is the sweet Maui onion. The best Maui onions are grown only on the slopes of Haleakala, the dormant volcano whose name means "House of the Sun" in Hawaiian. The hot version of this salsa gets a wonderful flavor and heat boost from Habanero and Thai peppers. This is a salsa perfect for cooking and worth savoring as a dip. HOT TIP - If the hot version is a little hot for your taste buds, mix with cream cheese to your liking- makes a truly fabulous dip!
